Resumen
Camilo Torres Tenorio fue un ilustrado neogranadino de finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XIX. En él podemos observar los referentes que la historiografía ha reconocido como característicos de la Ilustración: la noción de progreso, el método científico, un pensamiento secular y una ética sociopolítica diferenciada de lo religioso. Sin embargo, 50 años antes, la sociedad neogranadina desconocía estos lenguajes y prácticas y su horizonte de sentido estaba dado únicamente por el pensamiento clerical. ¿Qué sucedió con la noción de Dios en esta transición? En el presente trabajo defendemos que se resignificó, conciliando sus dos fuentes: la ilustrada y la pre-ilustrada, tradicional y reaccionaria, generando un nuevo concepto original; un Dios en el que la noción de Providencia y de Progreso se articulan y confluyen en armonía, en el que la visión materialista de la ciencia moderna enriquece el significado espiritual y místico del conocimiento de la naturaleza y, sobre todo, un Dios que sostiene toda forma de conocimiento, independientemente de que su orientación, forma y lenguaje sean de carácter ilustrado.

Abstract
Camilo Torres Tenorio was one of the most notorious representatives of The Enlightenment in the New Kingdom of Granada at the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries. In Torres’ character and production, one can observe the classical referents that historiography has recognized as traditional features of The Enlightenment, namely: the notion of “progress”, the scientific method, a secularized mentality, and a socio-political ethical stance disentangled from any religious dogma. Nevertheless, 50 years before Torres birth (?), the New Grenadian society couldn’t have known those languages and practices, since its meaningful horizon was given uniquely by the clerical doctrine. What happened with the notion of “God” in that transition? In this work we defend that it was re-signified by means of the reconciliation of its two sources: a God in which the notions of Providence and progress were harmoniously articulated, a notion of The Divinity in which the vision of a materialistic world ran by modern science enriches the mystical approach to the spiritual world and, above all, a God that sustained any sort of knowledge, in disregard of the enlightened tone, orientation, form and language, adopted by such body of theory.
